A hanging scroll depicts a portrait of Kanzan in black ink, who stands holding an unrolled scroll across their chest. The figure has wild dark hair and narrowed eyes curved into a wide grin. Finely outlined, voluminous robes transition into a heavy dark wash at the bottom. Japanese calligraphy and a red seal sit in the upper left. Decorative patterned borders frame the portrait against a neutral background.
