This drawing is a preparatory sketch for United States currency, proposed during President Taft's administration.
A vertically oriented graphite drawing on tan paper depicts a nude woman with a light skin tone seated and facing left in profile. She extends her right arm forward, palm upturned and fingers curled, while resting her left arm behind her. Her hair is pinned in a bun and her legs are crossed at the ankles. Fine, smooth shading defines her form. A signature is visible in the lower right.
