An engraving on vertical cream paper features a central shield containing a chevron and three dolphins. Above, an eagle with spread wings serves as a crest. Floral garlands flank the shield, hanging from oval fasteners. Inscribed on a ribbon below are the words "NEC QUARERE HONOREM NEC SPERNERE." At the bottom, "Winthrop Sargent" is written in cursive script. The composition is rendered in fine black ink lines.
