Did You Know?

This mosaic floor was originally installed in the interior garden court and was on view from 1918 to 1965.
A weathered stone mosaic fragment is detailed with concentric borders surrounding a central interlocking weave. Strips of white, dark gray, ochre, and checkered red-and-white tiles frame the square piece. An inner band displays reddish-brown spiral scrolls on a white ground, turning at the corner. The central panel features a dense, braided motif in muted gray, yellow, and red. Jagged edges, particularly on the left, reveal the ancient masonry's fragmented state.
