A horizontally oriented etching and mezzotint print in brown tones features a rugged mountain pass. In the foreground, a pack mule stands on a narrow, rocky path. To the left, a massive craggy cliff towers above, while the right terrain drops into a deep valley. Jagged peaks rise in the background under a pale sky, where strong shadows contrast with bright highlights. Printed text at the bottom identifies the scene (see "Inscriptions").
