Description
The style of the costume indicates that this portrait probably depicts an Englishman, painted in England, most likely by an artist from the Netherlands. Details of the clothing and the hilt of the sword suggest the picture was painted between 1610 and 1615.- Viscount EdnamJuly 17, 1925(Sale: Christie’s, London, July 17, 1925, no. 63)-1946Mr. and Mrs. Samuel D.
