Early in his career, Preston Dickinson peddled socks door-to-door in order to supplement his meager income.

Description

According to the title of a closely related painting that Preston Dickinson made, Mountain Farm was inspired by the Catskill region in southeastern New York State. The artist's abstracted, highly geometric composition features several objects and natural forms—including houses, hills, and spidery trees—arranged among rectangular and wedged-shaped areas of the canvas.
