Description
This sketch represents an apotheosis, or a rise to heaven, of a saint. However, the precise identity of the figure remains unknown, since documents describing the commission have not yet been discovered, and the military costume does not sufficiently distinguish him.- (Colnaghi, London, 1958, as anonymous);Michael Jaffe, Cambridge;(Matthiesen Fine Art, London), sold to the Cleveland Museum of Art, 1980.
