Alexander H. Wyant's nickname was Aleck.

Description

During the last five years of his life, Alexander H. Wyant relocated to Arkville, NY—located in the Catskill Mountains—where a small artist colony was forming. This painting presents a distant view of Wyant's home and studio, constructed in 1889.
A horizontally oriented oil painting with soft brushwork depicts a landscape. Left of center, a cream colored house with a dark gabled roof sits nestled among small trees. A tan dirt path curves from the bottom right toward the middle. To the right stands a large tree with dark green foliage and a gray rocky outcrop. Muted greens and browns fill the foreground below a pale blue sky streaked with soft white clouds.
