A vertically oriented oil painting depicts a woman with light skin tone looking over her shoulder toward our right with a downcast gaze. She wears a voluminous red feathered headpiece with a jeweled band, a pearl earring, and a pearl necklace. Visible brushstrokes render her white and gold-trimmed garments. Dramatic light from our left illuminates her face and shoulder, while the rest of the scene is cast in deep shadow.
