Description

In this surprising drawing, a nude figure abandons her role as model in favor of drawing. The passive nude has become active; she turns away from the viewer, absorbed in her own artistic pursuit.
A vertically oriented black chalk drawing on light brown paper depicts a nude youth seated on a rectangular block, facing left. He leans over a table, gripping a long straightedge with his left hand while drawing with his right. His right leg crosses over his left ankle. Loose hatching defines his back and the table. Handwritten script and a signature appear in the lower corners.
