Description

The basis for Carpenter's abstract design for this silk may have been an aerial photograph of New York City. This roller printed textile design was produced as part of Stehli Silk Corporation's Americana Prints series, which was manufactured from 1925 to 1927. The company commissioned designs that captured a distinctly modern America. Carpenter designed two textiles for Stehli Silks Corporation, this one and one called Gulls, an abstract image of birds in flight.
