Description

This edging fragment includes geometric designs within squares, an early type of Punto in aria.
Looped and knotted off-white linen threads form an intricate, openwork horizontal band with five pointed pendants. Repeating eight-pointed stars centered in circles are linked by a delicate web-like grid across the top. Below a narrow dividing border, each scallop holds a circular motif with radiating spokes. The textile's edges are frayed and irregular, especially at the top and right, revealing its fragmented state against a black background.
