Maurice Grosser was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1903. He entered Harvard in 1920 and two years later he attended a South Boston art class. Within one year following his studies in America he was sent to Italy on a Harvard fellowship. In 1930 he had his first Paris show, followed by exhibitions in the Hague, Amsterdam, Chicago and New York. His paintings are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts and is represented in many important private collections.
