Did You Know?

Piña is made from fibers of the pineapple plant, first introduced to the Philippines by the Spanish in the sixteenth century.

Description

This blouse front is made of fine piña fiber in plain weave. The panel has an oval neck opening and is embroidered with repeated vertical floral motifs arranged in pairs on each side of the opening. The edges are unfinished, indicating that it was intended to be sewn into a complete baro-camisa garment.
