Did You Know?

Although Ward traveled to India, Japan, and Europe, it was her 32 trips to Mexico, primarily to the state of Oaxaca, that provided her primary inspiration.

Description

Ward was enamored of Mexico’s past and present traditions. She and her husband, CMA designer Bill Ward, collected arts and crafts from Oaxaca, Mexico. Their collection is documented in a 1986 catalog that accompanied an exhibition of their collection held at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
