Ward traveled extensively—to Japan, India, and Europe as well as to Mexico—always on the lookout for materials and inspiration for her artworks.

Description

By the late 1970s, when Eccentric Chamber was created, Evelyn Ward had honed her craft of large-scale three-dimensional constructions to include stitchwork, applique, cutwork, needle netting, and embroidery. As seen in this small, intimate example of her craft, she has distilled this technique to its essence.
