Ceramic with volcanic glaze

Gift of the Trideca Society 1997.163

Description

This bowl, designed and created by the husband and wife ceramicists Otto and Gertrud Natzler, is notable for its distinctly textured surface. This is achieved by using a volcanic glaze, usually containing silicon carbide, which creates a crater-like effect.
