As a child, O’Sickey attended Saturday classes in illustration here at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
A former professor at Kent State University, O'Sickey has maintained a prolific career spanning more than seven decades. Among his most recognizable works are the garden and landscape subjects that helped solidify his artistic reputation during the mid 1960s. Full of radiant color often applied with mosaic-like dabs of pigment, these compositions are further enlivened by patches of bare canvas.
