Description

Danny Lyon has called himself a journalist and his work “advocacy journalism.” This scene is part of a series called Conversations with the Dead, the result of the fourteen months in 1967–68 that Lyon spent photographing inside the Texas penitentiary system. “I tried with whatever power I had to make a picture of imprisonment as distressing as I knew it to be in reality.”
