About The Exhibition
The Cleveland Museum of Art is delighted to present Making a Connection: The Cleveland School of the Arts Senior Exhibition. With education central to the museum’s mission, we value the opportunity to showcase student creativity across the visual arts and collaborate with educational institutions in the greater Cleveland area.
Making a Connection is an eclectic mix of paintings, drawings, and photographs created by graduating senior students at Cleveland School of the Arts (CSA). Students were provided with a range of options in developing their final art works. For example, some students chose to explore such thematic concepts as “can you photograph love?” Other student works were less conceptual, but their interests captured the style and technique of specific artists such as René Magritte, Rosie Hardy, Salvador Dalí, and Hank Willis Thomas. In either case, all senior students engaged in considerable research of the style, technique, and theme.
Students selected artwork to include in this exhibition. That said, no one piece of art work can realistically speak to the endless talents and possibilities for a student’s future trajectory as an artist, but it does speak to their passion to create art. Students are also encouraged to explore other artistic disciplines to broaden their perspectives in the arts and the world in which they live. Participation in this exhibition partially fulfills the requirement for graduation at CSA.
Our institutions share a belief in the transformative power of education and creativity, and we hope you share in our pride and amazement as you enjoy this year’s exhibition.
