This medallion may have originally served as a sacerdotal brooch and is the earliest object from the Guelph Treasure, the ecclesiastical treasure of Germany’s Braunschweig (Brunswick) Cathedral.

A circular copper medallion, inlaid with cracked gold and cloisonné enamel, depicts a stylized bust of Christ with white enamel skin and gold-outlined features. Christ's haloed head sits above white hands clutching a blue-and-green object. Gold "A" and "Ω" symbols on fields of green and red flank the figure. A green arch borders the base. Fine cracks web across the entire weathered, jewel-like surface.
