Description

Erato, the muse of lyric and erotic poetry, is often depicted with a golden arrow received from Eros or Cupid, a sign of the emotion that inspires her.
Oil painting depicting Erato, a muse with light skin tone seated placing the tip of a white-fletched arrow against a tablet braced against her knee. Eros or Cupid, a god with light skin tone and wings, stands looking up at her at her side, childlike with one hand holding two arrows over her lap and the other the edge of white fabric that billows behind them. Erato wears a pink dress, flowers in her curly, dark-brown hair pulled back into a bun. Leafy, green trees and blue sky extend behind her.
