A vertically oriented oil painting depicts a woman with light skin tone, her shoulders and profile turned to our right as she gazes down at an open book. Her brown hair is pulled back with a light band. She wears a white, draped garment that leaves her right shoulder bare. Her arm rests on a red surface beside a small bowl containing a dark vessel. Fine cracks web across the composition.
